Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity is the first successful and oldest Black Greek-lettered organization founded on May 15, 1904 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Beta Epsilon Boule' seated in Greensboro, North Carolina was presented its charter on May 20, 1978 by Grand Grammateus George Redd largely through the efforts of Archon Alvin Blount who would become Beta Epsilon’s first Sire Archon. Other founding members included Archons Clarence E. Cokely, James Colston, Howard A. Chubbs, Lewis C. Dowdy, Bertrand A. Hall, Durel G. Long, Issac H. Miller, Roy D. Moore, William E. Reed, William J. Trent, and the only currently living founding Beta Epsilon Archon, Joseph A. Williams.

In the spirit of excellence and determination exhibited by the founding members of the Beta Epsilon Boule', the organization supports scholarships valued at $2,000.00 to support  high achieving Black male 12th grade students in Guilford County who aspire to enroll in a four-year institution of higher education as a full-time student.
